Focal Neurological Deficit is defined as loss of function of a body part that can be related directly to the dysfunction of its nervous control.
Focal Neurological Deficit means
- dysfunction of a nerve, as in paralysis of a muscle following nerve injury.
- dysfunction of the controlling part of the spinal cord e.g. paralysis of a limb in poliomyelitis, where the controlling anterior horn cells of the spinal cord are the real focus of disease
- dysfunction of a controlling part of the brain
