Causes of Myocarditis
Myocarditis is a caused by inflammation of the muscle of the heart. Although a variety of medical conditions can cause myocarditis, the most common cause is infection by viruses. Myocarditis can occur as a rare complication of bacterial infections, including diphtheria, tuberculosis, typhoid fever, and tetanus.
Treatment of Myocarditis
There is no specific treatment for myocarditis. Treatment of myocarditis depends on the underlying cause. More severe myocarditis may cause marked heart arrhythmias and heart failure if inflammation sufficiently damages the heart muscle or myocardium.
