Laryngitis - symptom, Treatment of Laryngitis
Inflammation of the voice box (larynx). Hoarseness is the predominant complaint, though pain in the throat may also be felt. The cause is usually viral. More prolonged hoarseness may have more serious causes. Any "sore-throat" and hoarseness that persists beyond a week MUST be shown to the ENT surgeon who will examine the vocal cords. There is no other way of excluding causes that may be as serious as tuberculosis or as life-threatening as cancer.
