Glomerulus - symptom, Treatment of Glomerulus
Part of the nephron.
The glomerulus is a modified capillary network. It begins the formation of urine by delivering an ultra-filtrate of plasma to the renal tubule. There are 1.6 million glomeruli in all, producing 120-180 Ii of ultra-filtrate daily. This is re-absorbed actively by the tubules and concentrated to result in the daily production of 1.5 Ii of urine. The normal glomerular lining is anti-thrombotic and anti-adhesive to platelets and plasma proteins. All glomerular injury results in the appearance of blood cells and plasma proteins in the urine.
