Kerosene Poisning - symptom, Treatment of Kerosene Poisning
Kerosene is usually swallowed by toddlers in mistake for water, but may also be inhaled.
Quick Aid
- . Do not attempt to induce vomiting at home.
- .Wash out mouth with plain water, do not give anything to eat or drink, rush to hospital.
- .On the way, the victim may become drowsy or unconscious and choke on vomit.
- .To prevent this, keep victim lying on the side during transfer. Clean out the mouth with a soft cloth (without rubbing) if there is vomiting.
- .Kerosene can cause convulsions/coma; fatal pneumonia if inhaled; kidney failure.
Caution
- Kerosene is poisonous.
- Its fumes contain benzene that causes bone marrow suppression.
- Keep out of the reach of children and toddlers.
- Do not use household utensils (cup, glass) to pour or store kerosene.
